LUHIMBA is a village in rural southern Tanzania.
In 1984 Luhimba faced extreme
poverty and low morale. Michael Carey, a retired mechanical
engineer, visited the village in that year and asked the villagers how
they perceived their needs.
The result was the Luhimba Project,
designed to achieve sustainable improvement in the quality of villagers'
life through education, health, clean water, agriculture and
engineering.
